About Me

Biography

Ottavia Steckel is a Freshman from Baltimore, MD studying marketing at the University of Maryland. Her interests include painting, photography, and design. Her artwork is inspired by the beauty of situations that occur daily. She uses her art to bring new life to the many experiences that become mundane after daily repetition.  She plans to create images and designs that portray important messages in clear, yet unique ways.  While at the University of Maryland, she intends to combine her marketing and prior arts education to create a strong understanding of the power of visual design. As a College Park Arts Scholar, Ottavia plans to explore the many ways artwork can overlap with service work, in order to create a stronger foundation of which she can build her career on. Finding a deeper connection to the artwork she creates, through community and service, is a goal of hers while in the Scholars program.
